Sex assault reported at Central Connecticut State University

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - Central Connecticut State University police are investigating reports that a student was sexually assaulted on the school's New Britain campus this past weekend.

University spokesman Mark McLaughlin says the unidentified female student reported the incident shortly after it occurred and sought treatment at a local hospital.

University police have not disclosed any details regarding the assault, including whether the victim knew her attacker.

CCSU staff, including the director of the Office of Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention, met with the student and provided support.

University police have determined that the assault was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the campus community. Their investigation remains ongoing.
