Police: Man broke into woman's home, sexually assaulted her

WESTPORT, Conn. (AP) - A Pennsylvania man is accused of breaking into a woman's home in Connecticut and sexually assaulting her.

Westport police responded to the home at about 12:30 a.m. Monday. The woman told police she woke up to 22-year-old Charles Ayala, of Upper Darby, walking toward her and unbuckling his pants.

Police say Ayala and the woman's son were partying at the woman's home the previous evening. Ayala left, but he later returned, entered the home and went into the woman's bedroom while she was sleeping.

Police say the woman ran downstairs, but Ayala followed her and assaulted her. The woman fled to a neighbor's home.

Ayala is charged with first-degree burglary, fourth-degree sexual assault and related crimes.

He's being held on $25,000 bail.
