Jury convicts man of murder in 2014 double shooting

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - A New Haven man has been found guilty of murder and first-degree assault in a double shooting that killed one man and left another seriously injured.

The New Haven Register reports that a Superior Court jury convicted 22-year-old Errol Godfrey-Hill on Thursday in the August 2014 shootings. He faces up to 97 years when he's sentenced Dec. 16.

The judge also found Godfrey-Hill guilty of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and violating his probation, which were additional counts not considered by the jury.

Prosecutors say the two victims, both 25, were shot as they walked down the street. Tyreese Jones was killed.

Defense attorney Glenn Conway has argued there was no evidence his client knew the two victims.

Conway says he plans to appeal the verdict.
