Police: Decomposing body found in Connecticut apartment

MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) - Police in Connecticut says the death of an elderly man whose decomposing body was found in a Meriden apartment is considered a homicide.

Officers were called to the apartment around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a dead body.

Police say based on the state of decomposition, the man did not die recently.

Authorities didn't immediately release the man's name pending notification of family. An autopsy is scheduled.

Police are also asking for the public's assistance in locating the victim's car, which is missing. It is described as a blue 2014 Nissan Sentra with Connecticut license plate 642YVE.
