Coast Guard Academy cadet found guilty of 2 sex assaults

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Coast Guard Academy cadet has been found guilty of sexually assaulting two other cadets and sentenced to eight years in prison.

Cadet Anthony Livingstone, of Plainfield, New Jersey, also was dismissed from the service at his court-martial Friday.

Livingstone was found guilty Thursday of charges including two counts of sexual assault. The court-martial took place in Norfolk, Virginia. Livingstone has the right to appeal his conviction and sentence.

A spokesman for the academy in New London, Connecticut, says investigators were looking into an assault that took place on campus in September 2015 when they learned of another in December 2013. Livingstone also was accused of threatening the two women to prevent them from cooperating with law enforcement.

The two women testified against Livingstone during the court-martial.
