EAST WINDSOR, Conn. (AP) Authorities say one person has died in a fire at an East Windsor mobile home.

An officer on patrol spotted the blaze at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The officer saw smoke coming from a trailer located behind Sofia's Restaurant. He kicked in the front door to see if anyone was inside but was pushed back by heavy smoke. Other officers arrived at the scene and tried to get inside the trailer by other means, but were unsuccessful.

Once the blaze was put out by firefighters, the victim was found inside.

No name has been released.

Residents of several nearby trailers were evacuated but no one else was hurt.

The fire's cause remains under investigation.
