I 84 Motorist Killed Standing Outside Car

A New Britain man standing outside his car when another car crashed into it on I-84 eastbound died when he fell over a concrete barrier and down to the train tracks below Tuesday night. 

20 year old Mark Lopez was outside a car that had stopped in the left lane near Exit 49 when it was hit from behind about 9:30 p.m. A passenger in the stopped car, a Chevrolet Aveo, was not injured.

 

The driver of second vehicle, an Acura TL, was also not injured. The Department of Transportation said Tuesday night that three lanes of the highway were closed immediately following the accident. The cause of the crash was under investigation on Wednesday. State police are looking for any witnesses to contact Troop H at 860-534-1000.
