Cops: CT man who left daughter, 6, in NYC bus depot arrested

NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say they've arrested a Connecticut man believed to have abandoned his six-year-old daughter in a Manhattan bus terminal as he fled from police.

Officials announced Friday that Elmer Gomez Ruano was picked up by a fugitive task force in Brooklyn.

Investigators had been pursuing the 32-year-old Ruano since the girl was discovered in the Port Authority bus terminal Monday.

Officials say the girl lead officers to her Stamford, Connecticut, home where authorities discovered the dead body of her mother.

The Daily News reports Dionicia Bautista-Cano's death has been ruled a homicide.

Connecticut police say there were signs of a struggle where her body was found.

Ruano was in custody and unavailable to comment. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
