Ex-teacher gets plea deal in student sex assault case

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - A former Madison high school teacher accused of sexually assaulting a teenage student and having inappropriate contact with another has accepted a plea deal in the case.

Thirty-nine-year-old Allison Marchese pleaded guilty Monday to charges that include reckless endangerment and threatening. She faces up to three years in prison when she's sentenced March 3.

Marchese was arrested last year on sexual assault and risk of injury charges.

An affidavit said a 17-year-old student told police he received a selfie of Marchese scantily dressed. It also said a 15-year-old student told police Marchese wrote that she could not concentrate during class because he was so attractive.

Marchese's attorney says his client pleaded under the Alford doctrine. That means Marchese doesn't admit guilt but acknowledges there's enough evidence for a conviction.
