Police: Bus driver fell asleep while driving 30 students

SHELTON, Conn. (AP) -- A Shelton school bus driver has been arrested after police allege he repeatedly dozed off while driving a bus full of students.

Paul Pixley was charged Tuesday with 30 counts of risk of injury to a minor and several driving offenses. The 55-year-old Derby man was held on $75,000 bond and is due in court Wednesday. It wasn't immediately known if he has an attorney.

Police pulled over the bus Dec. 16 after getting reports that it was swerving.

Police say officers didn't find any children on board but detectives determined there had been 30 students. The students apparently got off at earlier stops.

The Shelton Public School District says Pixley will never drive for the district again.
