10 dogs dead after house catches fire in South Windsor

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (AP) Several dogs are dead after a house burst into flames in South Windsor.

Firefighters arrived at a single family home on Sunday night and found the roof engulfed in flames.

WTNH-TV reports the resident wasn't home when the blaze broke out but later arrived and told emergency workers her 10 dogs were trapped inside.

South Windsor firefighters and an engine company from Manchester took a half-hour to get the fire under control and several hours to completely extinguish it.

WTNH-TV says the dogs couldn't be saved.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. There were no other injuries.
