Connecticut icon Sally's Apizza sold to new owners

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - An iconic Connecticut pizza restaurant has been sold.

An attorney representing the Consiglio family says Sally's Apizza in New Haven sold Wednesday afternoon. The Connecticut Post reports the real estate transaction listed the price for $667,500 to a Pennsylvania company. The price of the business itself has not been disclosed.

Robert, Richard and Ruth Consiglio are celebrating the sale. The siblings have been running the restaurant since their mother Florence died in 2012.

Robert "Bobby" Consiglio says he and his fellow siblings will now become managers at the restaurant. Consiglio says all of the restaurant staff will stay.

The restaurant known for its thin-crust pizzas was founded by his father Salvatore Consiglio in 1938. Salvatore "Sally" Consiglio died in 1989.

The new owners will be announced in January.
