Cops: man threatens Stratford officers with rifle

STRATFORD, Conn. (AP) Stratford police say a local man threatened to kill two officers with an assault rifle before he was arrested and authorities seized dozens of guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from his home.

The officers were responding to a domestic violence call Wednesday when they say 51-year-old Charles Buynovsky answered his door and pointed a loaded AK-47 at Officer John Facto and Lt. Celeste Robitaille.

Authorities told the Connecticut Post that Robitaille slammed the door against Buynovsky and the officers seized the rifle during a struggle.

Buynovsky was detained on $750,000 bail on charges including reckless endangerment and threatening. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.

Other officers and federal agents searched the home and seized 54 items including pistols, rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
