A juvenile who led Bethel Police in pursuit and then fled on foot has been charged. Officers tried to pull a car over on Chestnut Street around 5am yesterday for having a loud exhaust, but the driver accelerated. The motorist was seen driving on the wrong side of the road in the South Street/Taylor Avenue area, and this time stopped for police.
As the officer approached the car, the juvenile sped off and later crashed. The driver and a passenger fled on foot, with police searching the Timber Oaks community for them. A K9, Danbury and State Police also responded to the area.
The driver was identified and located in a nearby home. Bethel Police say the juvenile was wanted for a previous incident and was the subject of an active take-into-custody order.
There were no injuries involved in the incident.
