A driver fleeing from Putnam County Sheriff's deputies at more than 100 miles an hour lost control and crashed into a pond. A Deputy saw the vehicle speed through a red light on Route 22 in Southeast on February 23rd, almost crashing into another vehicle.
The deputy lost sight of the car, but eventually found a damaged guard rail and the car floating in a pond. 32-year old Mercer Given of Brewster was seen climbing out of the car.
Deputies determined that he was intoxicated.
Given was charged with felony reckless endangerment, DWI and traffic violations. He was arraigned and released for a court appearance later this month.
