The pilot and sole survivor of a helicopter crash in New York City's East River has been identified as a Danbury man. 33-year-old Richard Vance was treated and released from New York Presbyterian Hospital. A NYPD spokesman says all five passengers aboard died after the aircraft flipped upside down in the waters after 7pm yesterday. The passengers were recovered by police and fire department divers, who had to remove them from tight harnesses while they were upside down. Video taken by a bystander and posted on Twitter shows the red helicopter land hard in the water and then capsize, its rotors slapping at the water.
