Two hospitals in Connecticut will receive full reimbursement for Medicare-covered patients, with the other 27 facing some penalties after the program for the elderly found high rates of patient readmission last year.  Hospitals have been penalized since the 2013 fiscal year for having high rates of patients who are readmitted within a month of being discharged.  Data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services show that some hospitals in the state will have their Medicare reimbursements reduced by less than 1 percent, including Danbury Hospital by .63 percent.  Hospitals were placed into “peer groups” and their readmission rates were compared against facilities that serve similar proportions of low-income patients for the first time.
