The City of Danbury and the former police officer involved in a deadly pursuit are being sued by the family of a passenger in the car who was killed. A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed by the estate of 26-year-old Tiffany Fitzgerald claiming Jamie Hodge should not have chased the vehicle she was riding in back in December 2016. The Newstimes cites the suit which says Hodge acted recklessly, “in dereliction of duty and violation of orders, abandoning his assigned post and duties, for some apparent personal gain.” The former officer was working off-duty at a construction site when he spotted 33-year-old Ricardo Andre driving a car he believed was stolen. Hodge claims he approached the car at a traffic light, but Andre sped off. Andre was sentenced on manslaughter charges to 11 years in jail with a six-year suspended sentence.
