A Danbury man hit a New York State Police cruiser parked on the side of the highway this week, hit another car and injured three people. Troopers had pulled a vehicle over for a violation near exit 17 around 5:45pm on Tuesday, when a Mercedes side swiped the patrol car and collied with the other vehicle.
The Mercedes, driven by 24-year old Aleksander Venticinque, rolled over and came to rest in the center of the highway. He was extricated from the car and was uninjured.
The car that was rear ended had 3 occupants, who all needed to be extricated. The driver, 64-year old Luis Juanacido and passenger 38-year old Edwin Villavicencio, both of Danbury, suffered minor injuries and were transported to Danbury Hospital. Another passenger, 30-year old Diago Yomeseba of Danbury sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.
The investigation remains on-going. The highway was closed for about 4 hours.
