Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company is releasing details about two Christmas Day fires. Both companies were dispatched to a chimney fire on South Lakeshore Drive around 1:30 in the afternoon. Firefighters were on scene for about 40 minutes putting out the flames and checking for hot spots. Minutes later a report of a kitchen fire on Barnview Terrace came in. Brookfield, with mutual aid from Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Company, responded. The incident was minor. Fire officials are praising the dedication of the 100-percent volunteer members for leaving their Christmas celebrations to respond to their neighbors in need, as if it were any other day.
