Danbury Man Facing Child Sex Charges

Danbury Police arrested 28 year old Edison Bueno-Tenempaguay of Danbury on charges of luring and debauching the morals of a child after learning that a child from Bergen County was being engaged in sexually explicit conversations on social media. Investigators say on several occasions, Bueno-Tenempaguay attempted to arrange to meet the child, and he described sexual acts he had planned. Bueno-Tenempaguay is now in custody here in Connecticut, and he will be extradited to New Jersey to face them. The investigation meanwhile, is ongoing.

Mayor Announces New Task Force

Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito on Thursday, announced a Task Force for the creation of the Office of Federal, State and Local Grant Opportunities. The task force will pursue opportunities for the City of Danbury and it’s non-profit and business community. It will partner with all city departments, as well as the Danbury Board of Education, and will serve as a hub for non-profits and businesses to pursue grants at not only the local level, but also state and federal levels.

3 Danbury Residents Facing Drug Charges

A long running investigation has led to the arrest of 3 Danbury residents on drug charges. 29 year old Robert Stevenson was taken into custody during a traffic stop Thursday. 2 other people in the car were also arrested. They are only identified so far as a 30-year-old Danbury man who was found in possession of cocaine, and a 29-year-old Danbury woman who was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The 30-year-old Danbury man and the 29-year-old Danbury woman were released on a written promise to appear.

No Bear Hunting

Black bears here in Connecticut are safe for a while, after state lawmakers on Thursday, abandoned the push for a limited bear hunting season in what is seen as the latest blow against a long fought campaign by hunters and farmers to legalize bear hunting, mainly in the Northwest corner of Connecticut. Today, lawmakers were scheduled to vote on a proposal that would have permitted the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to set up a lottery system for hunters to kill up to 50 black bears each year in Litchfield County.

Ridgefield Top 10 Taxpayers Make Up Nearly 10% of the Tax Bill

According to the tax assessor in Ridgefield, the town’s top 10 taxpayers make up nearly 10% of the tax bill… with total payments of $484 million. The top ten list includes an international pharmaceutical company, a public utility, a country club and a private horse farm. Others rounding out the top ten include a few shopping centers, offices and apartment buildings. Ridgfield’s grand list of taxable property adds up to $5.8 billion.

Chamber Merger

In what they say is an effort to strengthen local business, the Chambers of Commerce in Brookfield and Danbury plan to merge. As of the end of this month… March 31st… the two chambers are combining to provide better services and more opportunities for growth. The latest merger comes less than one year after the Newtown Chamber of Commerce combined forces with the Greater Danbury Chamber. The decision to join the two organizations came about after leaders of both chambers agreed that in today’s environment it’s important to focus on growth, expanded networking, education, advocacy, and support of businesses both large and small.

Connecticut Fugitive Arrested in New York

A fugitive from Connecticut who was wanted for shooting up a home in New Britain, has been captured in New York. U.S. Marshals apprehended 35 year old Luis Minaya of Waterbury in New York on Wednesday. Minaya is accused of firing several shots at his ex-girlfriend’s home in New Britain last month. He was also wanted for seven active arrest warrants here in Connecticut, ranging from assaulting police to sexual assault. Minaya is now being held at Rikers Island Correctional Facility as he awaits extradition to Connecticut, where he faces charges that include first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, and criminal possession of a firearm.

Accused Former School Employee Due in Court

The former New Fairfield Middle School lunch aide who stands accused of sexually assaulting a student is due back in court today. 31 year old Andie Rosafort has pleaded not guilty to charges including second-degree sexual assault, enticing a minor by computer and risk of injury to a child. She is now bound by a protective order, prohibiting Rosafort from contacting the victim. She is also prohibited from talking to him, threatening him, or abusing, harassing, following or interfering with him. Rosafort also has been ordered by the court to stay at least 100 yards from the victim at all times. Rosafort for now, remains free on $100,000 bond. She is also not permited to use social media.

Wilton Stabbing

A Wilton man was found dead in a garage, and now one of his neighbors is facing charges. It all started in Wilton around 11:15 Tuesday at 34 Patrick Lane. Police responded afer getting a 911 call and they found the 39 year old man dead of apparent stab wounds, lying on the floor of the detached garage. The 911 caller said he saw it happen while looking out his window, and he believed the attacker was 31 year old Sebastian Andrews of Wilton. Police have now charged Andrews with murder and he is being held on a $1 million bond.

School Restraint Policy Being Considered

A new restraint and seclusion policy is being considered by the Brookfield School District, where they say it would clarify staff training and protocols and would emphasize the limited use of what are now considered controversial classroom practices. The discussion in Brookfield comes at the same time as similar discussions are taking place at the state level. According to district administrators, restraint and seclusion of students is not something they want to do but sometimes it is warranted, and therefore, proper training and preparation is crucial. The board’s revised policy would replace the one adopted in 2013.
