3 Wanted in New Milford

New Milford Police are trying to find out who three people are who they say were involved in some suspicious activity around town. Police say Saturday afternoon, 3 suspects were seen entering vehicles and garages on Hawthorne Lane and on Prospect Street. They were scared off by a homeowner. Police say all 3 were wearing facemasks and hoodies, and they were in a blue Subaru or Hyundai. Police now remind everyone to be sure to lock all vehicles and keep homes and other buildings secured as well. If you have any information about it, contact New Milford Police.


Credit Rating Upgraded

Kroll Bond Rating Agency has upgraded the credit rating of Connecticut’s transportation bonds from AA to AAA, the highest credit rating possible. The upgrade is for Connecticut’s Special Tax Obligation Transportation Infrastructure Purposes bonds… which are issued for the state’s portion of transportation infrastructure improvements, including construction and maintenance of highways, roads, bridge, mass transit projects, waterway access, and more. The credit rating upgrade will make it more cost-effective to take on transportation projects.


Hunting Seasons Announced

Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has announced the Opening Days of turkey and small game hunting seasons. The firearms turkey season opens this Saturday, October 7, and continues through October 31st. The Pheasant and Small Game hunting seasons open at a ½-hour before sunrise on Saturday, October 21st. Millennials Favor Connecticut

According to a new study, the Millennial generation… those currently aged 27 to 42… is America’s largest, and they are now moving solidly into their peak earning and spending years, they are quickly asserting their economic power. Millennials are now the largest segment of the labor force, and now they are also the largest share of homebuyers. Connecticut reported a 3.3% net increase in wealthy millennials in its population. Overall, wealthy millennials are moving to Connecticut at the 9th highest rate in the nation.


Sherman Vote Saturday

Sherman residents will have a chance to vote this Saturday on a $47 million plan to renovate the only public school in Sherman. If voters approve it, the plan would mean a reduction in the school’s physical size, by replacing a wing of the building that is no longer used. Other problems that would be addressed include outdated building systems and a lack of clean water. If voters give it the thumbs up this Saturday, Sherman would then pursue a state grant which would cover $11 million in costs of the project.


Layoffs Coming

In yet another sign of a worsening economy, Sikorsky Aircraft on Tuesday, confirmed plans to lay off 179 workers in Connecticut. Sikorsky released a statement, saying that the layoffs were triggered in part, by ongoing material shortages which are impacting cost competitiveness. No specific details were released on just when the layoffs would occur. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal’s office has confirmed the bulk of the Sikorsky employees being laid off are engineers.


Self Storage Concerns

A recent increase in the number of self-storage projects in the greater Danbury area now has local planners addressing concerns about traffic and aesthetics. That has led city planners to take a slow and deliberate approach to blueprint reviews. Specifically, it seems that the garage-style doors fronting some storage facilities are what city planners are concerned about. Several plans are currently waiting for a final decision before they can move forward.


Medical Savings Available Now

Effective as of Monday, Connecticut residents can now enroll in a newly launched program enabling them to receive a discount card that can be presented at pharmacies to receive savings on certain medication. The discount card is provided through ArrayRx, a multistate consortium Connecticut recently joined that uses the leverage of bulk purchasing to offer up to 80% savings on generic prescription drugs and 20% savings on name-brand prescription drugs. Cyber Attack Exposes Thousands of Connecticut Residents

It now appears that a cyberattack compromised Social Security numbers, financial information, and Eastern Connecticut Health Network patients’ medical records. The attack occurred last August according to an attorney representing Prospect Medical Holdings — ECHN’s parent company. Prospect mailed notification letters to people whose information may have been compromised. It affects more than 24,000 Connecticut residents
