A Danbury High School senior has created a peer network for Down syndrome support. Olivia Alessandro has a 10-yea old brother who was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth. While there is help available for parents from a variety of agencies, Alessandro says there is little support for siblings. The “Siblings’ First Call,” program is a hotline that provides support and guidance for those who have a family member with Down syndrome. The hotline number is (888) 486-8573 and general questions can be emailed to siblingsfirstcall@mydsact.org.
