A virtual hearing is being held at the state capitol on Monday about rising home energy costs and the state's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. Newtown state Senator Tony Hwang, a ranking member of the legislature's Planning and Development Committee, says he understands the financial pressure residents are likely to experience this fall to heat their homes. The committees on Appropriations, Energy, and Human Services will be holding the hearing via Zoom at 10am on Monday. Those interested in testifying virtually must sign up by 3pm today. Speaker order will be posted on the Appropriations Committee web site by 5 pm the same day.
