11 of 40 stores in Danbury sold alcohol to minor in sting
A quarter of liquor permit holders in Danbury where a minor went in to try and buy alcohol in a Department of Consumer Protection sting, were not in compliance with state law.
A 17-year old boy worked with the State Liquor Commission during an investigation in the city by the Connecticut Coalition to Stop Underage Drinking. Program Coordinator Stephanie Moran says 11 out 0f 40 liuquor permit holders stol to the youth.
The coalition says they train the minors to give clerks every opportunity NOT to sell to them, including giving their real age when asked and providing their actual driver's license when asked.
The cases, which take about a month to be reviewed by the liquor control board, are:
