Three police agencies investigate WCSU incident
West Conn's Westside campus went into an unofficial lockdown Thursday evening as police investigate an incident on the campus. Police say it was an armed robbery at one of the dormitories. Officers are not reporting any injuries at this time.
No students were being let out of the Lake Avenue property for a time, and the only people being let in were police. Some West Conn students say they weren't allowed to leave campus for 2 and a half hours. There is no word on if the gunman is a student.
Two students that WLAD spoke with describe the dorms as having a card reader that all people entering the building have to swipe their student ID through. They also say there is a person on duty at the desks in the entrance to the dormitories. Though they say if there is a crowd of people coming and going into the building at the same time, it would be easy to enter the building without an ID.
State Police, Danbury Police and West Conn officers responded. Some students have been posting about a "lock down" in their Facebook statuses as the evening wears on.
No other details are available at this time.
