Connecticut’s police standards council is recommending changes to the rules for speed and red-light cameras. It wants lawmakers to give people driving leased or rented cars a way to contest tickets. The council also says camera data should stay separate from license plate reader systems and should not be searchable for unrelated investigations. It recommends that towns keep records of who accesses the systems and clearly report how they spend money from fines. The changes for now are recommendations, not new rules.
