Connecticut environmental officials are urging anyone heading to state parks, beaches or lakes over the Fourth of July weekend to plan ahead. With extreme heat and large crowds expected, visitors are encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid peak afternoon heat, watch children closely around the water and check park capacity before leaving home. Fireworks also remain prohibited in state parks.
