Former New Haven Police Chief Karl Jacobson has pleaded no contest to first-degree larceny charges involving the theft of 178-thousand-dollars in city funds to cover gambling debts. State investigators say Jacobson diverted money from two police department accounts into his personal bank account, beginning in 2019. He retired in January after being confronted by fellow officers. Jacobson faces up to four years in prison and must repay the stolen funds. Sentencing is scheduled for January 29th.
