Connecticut Marks Food Waste Prevention Week

Connecticut’s Food Waste Prevention Week continues through Sunday, October 4. State environmental officials say roughly 150,000 tons of edible food goes to waste each year, while more than 560,000 residents face food insecurity. The campaign encourages people to reduce waste, donate surplus food and compost scraps. Residents can volunteer with groups including the Danbury Food Collaborative. A statewide plan to expand food recovery is expected by year’s end.
