Danbury Cleanup On Saturday

Mayor Roberto Alves and the City of Danbury announce the much-anticipated return of Clean City Danbury Day. This community-wide event is set to kick off tomorrow from 8 am to noon. Danbury residents and property owners can take advantage of this fantastic opportunity for free disposal of unwanted items at multiple convenient locations across the city, including Danbury City Hall; the Public Works Facility; Danbury PAL; Rogers Park; and the WCSU Westside Campus. Proof of Danbury residency is a must. While they will take almost everything off your hands, there are some prohibited items, and they include tires, yard debris, electronics, hazardous waste, and construction Debris. Also, no commercial Trucks are allowed, but U-Hauls or rental vehicles are good to go.


Crash On Interstate 84 Near Danbury Leaves Several Injuries

In the midst of ongoing closures on Interstate 95 due to a fiery accident in Norwalk, Danbury authorities faced another harrowing incident on Interstate 84. Responding to a serious crash near exit 2 westbound, emergency crews found an SUV that had collided with a tractor-trailer. With two occupants trapped inside, firefighters heroically executed a rescue operation. Despite their efforts, serious injuries were reported, and several people were rushed to the hospital. No other details have yet been released.

Adjustments Made In Halas Case

Danbury City Council has adjusted stipulations for Halas Farm owner, former city council member Michael Halas, who is accused of illegal dumping. The requirement for a chain link fence is now replaced by planting trees to define property lines. Halas meanwhile, denies awareness of any agreement and alleges a political attack.

Capitol Threat Disrupts Things On Tuesday

The Connecticut State Capitol was placed on lockdown after Hartford Police received a violent threat on Tuesday afternoon. Law enforcement swiftly responded, with armed state troopers stationed outside entrances. Despite the tense situation, legislative activities continued inside, with staff and visitors carrying on as usual. The threat, received at approximately 3:20pm yesterday, claimed the presence of a person armed with a weapon and possibly explosives on the Capitol grounds. Authorities conducted thorough searches, including deploying bomb-sniffing dogs. After ensuring the safety of the complex, normal security measures were reinstated, and operations resumed without further incident.
