Waterbury store clerk shot in neck

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) A 19-year-old Waterbury man faces arraignment on an attempted murder charge, accused of shooting of a clerk at a city market.

Police say Tony Dupre walked into the Bucks Hill Market just before 11 a.m. Sunday, shot the 61-year-old clerk in the neck and stole money from the cash register.

The shooting was captured by the store's surveillance camera and police say Dupre made no attempt to hide his identity.

He was arrested after being spotted walking on a nearby street shortly after 1 p.m. Police say they subdued him with an electronic stun gun.

Police say the clerk, whose name has not been released, is in serious condition with a bullet lodged in his spine.

Dupre was scheduled to appear in Superior Court Monday morning.
