Victims in Connecticut motorcycle crash identified

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Connecticut State Police say two New Hampshire residents were the victims of a motorcycle crash on Interstate 84 near Hartford that caused a major traffic jam during the Thursday afternoon rush hour.

Authorities say 43-year-old Brenda Goodwin was killed and 46-year-old Mark Goodwin was injured when their motorcycle hit the back of a car after traffic came to an abrupt stop in the eastbound lanes in West Hartford shortly after 3:30 p.m., and a car behind them struck Brenda Goodwin. Police say the victims lived in Atkinson, New Hampshire.

Authorities say Mark Goodwin's injuries are not life-threatening. Both Goodwins were wearing helmets.

No charges have been filed. The accident remains under investigation.

Police closed the eastbound side of the highway for about three hours, tying up traffic for several miles.
