NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) A New Haven developer who was acquitted in federal court on charges related to arsons faces trial in state Superior Court, accused of conspiring to have his associates set fire to two houses and a car.

Jury selection in the trial of Angelo Reyes is set to begin Thursday in New Haven Superior Court and testimony is scheduled to start Sept. 29.

The New Haven Register reports Reyes's lawyer, John R. Williams, said the state's case will rely on the same two prime witnesses who testified at Reyes' federal trial, saying the 49-year-old Reyes paid them to get involved with the arsons.

The newspaper reported that Senior Assistant State's Attorney John P. Doyle Jr. could not be reached for comment on Monday.

The house and car fires were in 2008 and 2009.
