Skeletal remains of man found in Connecticut woods

VERNON, Conn. (AP) Police say the skeletal remains of an adult man have been found in a wooded area of Vernon.

Investigators recovered the remains after a local resident and his friend told police they'd found them in the woods behind the Vernon Community Gardens at around noon Thursday.

Police say a preliminary identification has been made but they are awaiting a positive identification from the medical examiner's office. No cause or manner of death has been determined yet. An autopsy will be held Friday.

Authorities say they believe the remains are not connected to the skeletal remains of a woman found in Vernon in March 2013.
