Worker hit by truck at postal service processing center

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (AP) Authorities say a postal worker has been seriously injured after he was run over by a box truck at a U.S. Postal Service processing facility in Connecticut.

Police said 52-year-old Glen Ford was walking in the parking lot of the Wallingford facility on Saturday afternoon when he was knocked down and run over by a truck trying to back up to a loading dock.

Ford was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital after the 5 p.m. accident.

No charges have been filed against the truck driver, 46-year-old Joseph Gallo of West Haven, who remained at the scene. The truck is registered to a postal service contractor, FMP Transport LLC of East Haven.

State and local police are investigating along with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
