Man charged with sexually assaulting teen at riding stables

KILLINGLY, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut man has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl who worked for him at horse riding stables in Killingly.

State police say 41-year-old Michael Sobieniak, of Brooklyn, was arrested Thursday after police launched an investigation at the Valley View Riding Stables.

The investigation began after a complaint was filed in October. Police say the alleged victim, now 22, told troopers the assaults happened when she was 13 until she was 15.

She told police she worked for Sobieniak to pay for riding lessons.

Sobieniak faces charges including second-degree sexual assault. He was held on $100,000 bond pending arraignment. It's not clear if he has an attorney.
