WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) A Connecticut state representative has been arrested on a drunken driving charge, more than a year after an arrest on the same charge.
State police pulled over David J. Alexander, an Enfield Democrat, early Saturday on Interstate 84 in West Hartford. A police report says Alexander's vehicle was crossing into the right shoulder.
A message seeking comment was left at Alexander's home. He's scheduled to appear in court July 28.
The 35-year-old Alexander was arrested in February 2015 on a DUI charge. At that time, he apologized and said he'd seek help to overcome struggles with alcohol.
A spokesman for Democratic House Speaker Brendan Sharkey says Alexander is being removed from his committee assignments. He says Sharkey is ``extremely concerned'' and has urged Alexander to get help.
