Police: Juvenile charged with producing explosives

CHESHIRE, Conn. (AP) A juvenile has been arrested after authorities allege he and another suspect were found researching and making explosives in a wooded area near a Connecticut school.

Police say the Cheshire teen turned himself into police on Sept. 26. He faces charges including manufacturing a bomb and conspiracy to manufacture a bomb. A warrant is still pending for a second suspect.

The Record-Journal reports the arrest stems from a January investigation involving police and the New Haven FBI office that started after Cheshire Academy was placed on lockdown due to reports of a potentially hazardous material in a dorm room.

Police say a search of school grounds found a liquid believed to be gasoline in an area near the campus.

Authorities say the two suspects had been producing explosive devices there.
