HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A high school physics teacher hit by a car while running in West Hartford has died.
Police say Andrej Cavarkapa was out for a run the evening of Jan. 25 when he was struck by a car driven by a 19-year-old man from South Windsor. He died Tuesday night at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford as a result of his injuries.
The 30-year-old Cavarkapa taught at RHAM High School in Hebron. School officials have said he was great teacher and wonderful colleague.
West Hartford police say witnesses told them the driver had a green light at an intersection when Cavarkapa jogged into the car's path and they collided.
Police say the driver is cooperating, and an investigation continues.
