Hartford prison guard charged with sex assault

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) A state correctional officer is accused of ordering a woman into his SUV at gunpoint and sexually assaulting her in Hartford, but he says the sex was consensual.

City police charged Kelvin Grisales with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, threatening and weapons charges Thursday, after the woman reported that Grisales raped her in his vehicle.

Police say Grisales told them the woman flagged him down and asked for a ride, and the two had consensual sex. Grisales told police that the woman then demanded $60 for the sex and threatened him, so he pulled his son's BB gun on her.

Grisales works at the Hartford Correctional Center and has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Grisales is detained on $500,000 bail. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
