Manchester police make arrest in motel assault

MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) Manchester police have arrested a man in connection with an assault at a motel that left the victim with life-threatening injuries.

Twenty-year-old Lorenzo Hernandez of no certain address was charged with first-degree assault and burglary and held on $500,000 bail Thursday. He was to be arraigned Friday in Manchester Superior Court.

Police and medics were called to the Manchester Inn on Tuesday after a house cleaner found an unconscious man in a room he was renting. Authorities say the 47-year-old man was brought to Hartford Hospital.

Police didn't release the victim's name or give an update on his condition Friday.

Detectives say Hernandez apparently knew the victim and the assault wasn't random.

It's not clear if Hernandez has a lawyer.
