UConn police: celebration wasn't a riot

STORRS, Conn. (AP) University of Connecticut students set newspapers on fire, ``crowd-surfed'' and threw a variety of objects in a large campus celebration after the men's basketball team's win in the NCAA tournament, but police say it wasn't a riot and no serious injuries were reported.

A large crowd gathered near Gampel Pavilion and the Student Union on Sunday afternoon after the Huskies beat Michigan State 60-54 to get to the Final Four. Police arrested a person for setting newspapers on fire.

Police broke up the crowd amid the burning newspapers. The student newspaper, The Daily Campus, reports some people got hit with projectiles including beer cans and basketballs, but no one was seriously hurt and no property was damaged.

UConn plays Florida in the Final Four on Saturday.
