Eversource and Dartmouth Engineering could receive nearly 48 million dollars in federal funding for a project to expand the capacity of existing power lines. The plan would use sensors and weather forecasts across about four thousand miles of transmission lines in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Eversource says it could improve reliability and reduce costs. Funding still depends on negotiations with the Department of Energy. Work could begin in 2027.
