Nearly 40 Percent of Connecticut Households Struggle Financially

A United Way report finds 570,000 Connecticut households could not comfortably afford basic necessities in 2024. That includes families above the federal poverty line but unable to easily cover housing, food, transportation and child care. The total is down slightly from 2023 but remains 14 percent higher than in 2019.
