Governor Ned Lamont has signed an executive order launching a full review of how Connecticut funds its K through 12 public schools, calling the current system outdated and in need of reform. The move creates a new Blue-Ribbon Commission on K-12 Education Funding and Accountability, tasked with evaluating programs like the Education Cost Sharing grant and recommending improvements to better support student outcomes and district needs. Lamont also says he’s working with lawmakers to direct a significant portion of a proposed 500 million dollar affordability fund to help school districts immediately, rather than waiting for the commission’s final report.
