Connecticut Electric Rates Set To Drop Starting May 1

Connecticut residents are set to see lower electric bills beginning May first after action by Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority. The change will cut rates by roughly fourteen percent, translating to about 30 dollars a month for Eversource customers. Officials say the drop is tied to a shift in the public benefits charge, which will become a credit on bills through at least September. State leaders point to long-term nuclear energy contracts and recent legislation as key drivers behind the savings. The lower rates are expected to appear on customer bills starting May first and continue through late summer for most households.
