A new report from the American Lung Association shows serious air quality concerns in Fairfield County, where ozone pollution now ranks the worst east of Texas. The findings say more than 535 thousand children across Connecticut are breathing unhealthy air, with Fairfield County receiving failing marks for ozone and below-average grades for particle pollution. Researchers say ozone smog has worsened in Fairfield County for three straight years, making it the most polluted area in the state and among the worst in the country. Health experts warn the pollution can trigger asthma attacks and other long-term respiratory problems, especially in children.
