A Sunday morning fire damaged a strip mall at 71 South Main Street in Newtown. Fire officials say smoke was reported around 8:30 a.m. The fire was contained to one business, while neighboring stores suffered smoke and ceiling damage. All Newtown fire companies responded, and no injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation.
